PERSONAL GROWTH
A believer can not grow alone. The life of following Christ was never meant to be in isolation. The early Christians pursued it not in large gatherings, but rather in homes and smaller settings. Jesus also modeled small groups. Although he had many followers, he chose from among them twelve, and from among the twelve formed an even smaller group of four, including himself. This smaller group surrounded Jesus, in total or in part, at critical points of his ministry. He emphasized the importance of being close to one another, and most of all he promised that when two or three people would gather as a small group - surprise! - he would be there with them. Obviously, Jesus loves small groups.
