Session 07: Witness & Worldliness

Passage: John 15:18–16:4

Reflect:

  1. What was it about Jesus that the world hated/hates? Obviously, many unbelievers find some things about Jesus attractive. So what is it about him that draws hate?

  2. If you think of Christianity in a big picture sense, there are some things the world hates about Christians that have nothing to do with Jesus. What are those things?

  3. What would it look like to be rejected/opposed alongside Jesus? If Jesus were walking next to you, what kind of opposition would you get from people? How would you feel about that?

Do:

Jesus told these things to his followers because he wanted them to ponder the implications. Take 15 minutes to mull this passage over prayerfully. Are you experiencing any of this? If not, why not? How is the Holy Spirit a Helper in all of this? Is there anything God is preparing you for here?
