WEEK 2 | YAHWEH

Exodus 34:6-7

The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

“The LORD, the LORD”

Here we learn the very name of God. He calls himself YHWH. We have translated this name into Yahweh. When something has a name it has an identity and it has power. To call on the name of the LORD is a powerful thing. And what we call God matters. Calling God Yahweh is a way of showing Him that He is the Lord over all things. When you address the Lord as Yahweh you are addressing him by his very name. When we pray and communicate with God, we need to remember that He has a name and He wants us to call Him by His name. Yahweh.
