Session 11: Sent

Passage: John 17 (again)

Reflect:

  1. Jesus uses the word “sent” seven times in this prayer. What does it mean that Jesus was sent? From whom? To whom? For what purpose?

  2. Jesus says he is sending his followers just as the Father had sent him. What did that look like for the original disciples? What should it look like for us?

  3. Who specifically do you believe God has sent you to in this season? What might that look like?

Do:

Go! Make a list of 1–5 names to whom you believe God is sending you. Start this week to follow Jesus’ pattern of being sent as you reach out to these 1–5. Be sure to allow your reflections on humility, the Holy Spirit, the concept of abiding in Christ, and being perfectly one into your approach to being sent to these people. ALSO, ask God to prompt you with one person that you can now lead through these reflections on John 13–17. Now that you’ve processed through it, lead someone else in the same process and send them out at the end.
