O Father who bears us up on wings like eagles,
May we find in you rest and the ability to soar. 

O Spirit who energizes your people,
May we rely always on your power to heal, to restore, to make new. 

O Christ who offers rest to all who are weary and heavy-laden,
May we accept the grace of the easy yoke. 

We gather from the places, relationships, and structures that require our attention, energy, and creative work. We confess our disordered pursuit of love, of meaning, and of rest. Help us find everything we need in you. 

With many parts of our world affected by wars and rumors of wars, we pray for the people of Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, and every place where people are suffering due to conflict. Preserve life, bring peace, and heal every type of wound. 

Lord, in your mercy….

We grieve the persistence of gun violence, which recently took the lives of people in Fairfield and in Chico. We ask you to comfort the families and communities affected and to heal our nation of this terrible pattern of violence. Enable us to invest in the things that make for peace.

For those affected by the four major earthquakes across three continents this week, especially the hundreds killed in Venezuela, we ask for comfort for those who grieve and provision for those needing to rebuild their lives and properties.

As we continue to watch the World Cup, we rejoice in the joyfully diverse display of many countries and many cultures cooperating and competing. Help us to see your image in every face and a glimmer of your coming kingdom, which is composed of every tribe, tongue, and nation.

As we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the United States, we thank you for the liberties and relative peace we have enjoyed and we ask you to guide our nation in every area in which it falls short of its own ideals and of the realities of your kingdom.

As lawmakers and tech executives wrestle to understand and regulate the development and use of artificial intelligence, we ask that you give wisdom and curb the unbridled pursuit of profit. May we understand what it is to be made in your image and how to best steward our humanity and the things we create at this crucial moment in history.

Be with us in our Summer travels, our rest, and our pursuit of enjoyment. Help us to enjoy the places and people you put in our path. Most of all, may our deepest enjoyment be found in you.

In all things we offer ourselves to you and ask that you make us more attentive to who you are, to what you’re doing within us, and to how you’re working around us. Empower us to boldly follow the Spirit’s leading.
