August 2026

O Spirit who calms our hearts and attunes us to your ways,

May we find peace as you work within us.

O Christ who invites us to the easy burden and the light yoke,

May we rest in you every moment.

O Father who brings peace in the midst of storms,

May we learn to be still and know that you are God.

We come to you as those who are prone to distraction. Allow us to see the light of your face. Prune those parts of us that grow wayward and teach us to abide in you more fully.

We pray for the people of Nepal and Tibet, where flash floods and mudslides have caused massive death and destruction. Please comfort those who grieve, care for those who are injured or missing, and provide for those devastated by this sudden disaster. Empower your church to provide comfort, healing, and acts of mercy so all can see that Jesus is the true source of comfort.

Lord, in your mercy…

Hear our prayer.

We pray for the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, where many civilians have become casualties, including many children, as long range missiles have traveled deep into populated areas. We ask you to comfort those who grieve and bring an end to war.

Lord, in your mercy…

Hear our prayer.

We pray for peace, healing, and miraculous reconciliation between Israel and Palestine. We pray specifically for residents of Gaza, where Palestinian civilians, including children, continue to be casualties. We ask for comfort and healing in a situation that feels hopeless.

Lord, in your mercy…

Hear our prayer.

As Epstein files continue to be released and our politicians and pundits continue to argue, we pray for the victims of trafficking to find freedom, healing, and wholeness. We ask you to bring justice and goodness to our society, even when our leaders can’t agree on answers.

Lord, in your goodness…

Hear our prayer.

While our nation argues over women’s sports and the participation of trans athletes, we ask you for guidance and for grace. Please allow us to love and dignify the people you put in front us as we pursue both your truth and your love. Heal the divisions in our country and allow us to remain attuned to you and your ways rather than the loudest voices in our society.

Lord, in your love…

Hear our prayer.

We pray for the members of our church family who are isolated due to illness or aging. Help us to be attentive to one another and to care for one another. May your love inspire us to live in community, even when it is difficult to do so.

Lord, in your love…

Hear our prayer.

In all things we offer ourselves to you and ask that you make us more attentive to who you are, to what you’re doing within us, and to how you’re working around us. Empower us to boldly follow the Spirit’s leading.

Amen.
